Lace: Labor and Luxury

Jump to

Lace: Labor and Luxury highlights the artistry of lace and contextualizes this artform within centuries of fashion history. In the small Textile Education Gallery, portraits of fashionable lace-wearing men and women from the holdings of the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts are exhibited alongside fine examples of lace from the Department of Textile Arts. Together, these works chronicle the rise and fall of lace in fashion from the 16th through the 19th centuries.
