Adolphe Martial Potémont's magnum opus was his series of 300 prints entitled Old Paris, which was published in monthly installments during the mid-1860s. In these documentary views Martial attempted to preserve the picturesque detail as well as the ambiance of the city's narrow old passages and architectural relics.
