Learn the art of Japanese woodblock printing with printmaking artist Tomoko Murakami. This workshop will include a carving and printing demonstration, and participants will create their own small ukiyo-e (floating world woodblock prints). All materials are provided, and all levels are welcome.

About the artist

Tomoko Murakami, born and raised in Japan, received her MFA in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and her MA in transformative arts from John F. Kennedy University. She has taught at California College of the Arts, John F. Kennedy University, and Santa Rosa Junior College, among other community centers throughout the Bay Area. In addition to her career in art education, Tomoko is skilled at restoring the beauty and integrity of Asian paintings.

Free. Recommended for ages 18+, or with adult supervision. 

Please note: this workshop is now at capacity. We are no longer accepting waitlist sign-ups. Some spots may be open day of, available in person only at 9:30 am when the museum opens. There is no guarantee that spots will be available.
