What is Drag Story Hour?

It’s just what it sounds like! Storytellers using the art of drag to read books to kids in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Drag Story Hour captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where everyone can be their authentic selves.

About Per Sia

With a pedigree from weekly performances at the late, iconic Esta Noche, her trajectory has gone on to include art curation, stand-up, television, and a quinceañera or two, in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and México. Currently, she is a regular performer in the nationally acclaimed “Drag Story Hour.” She is also an educator in residence at an after-school arts program in the San Francisco Unified School District profiled on KQED Arts and National Public Radio.
