Leadership Circle, Patrons Circle, and exhibition sponsors are invited to a reception celebrating Manet & Morisot. Donors will enjoy private gallery time, a cocktail reception with light bites, and entertainment.

Manet & Morisot is the first major exhibition to explore the friendship of Édouard Manet, the “father” of modern painting, and Berthe Morisot, the founding female Impressionist. Theirs was the closest relationship between any two members of the Impressionist circle: as friends and colleagues, painter and model, collectors of each other’s work, and, following Morisot’s marriage to Manet’s brother, family. Their relationship had a determining effect on the course of art history, for its story is written in their pictures. Seen side by side, these works trace the evolution of a singular friendship by turns collaborative and competitive, playful and charged, lit by an enduring mutual sympathy and a shared desire to make art new.
