“I’ve always marveled at how patient, pervasive, and continuous nature can be. It always finds a way to survive. When left on its own it overcomes and dominates any planned environment. My botanical sculptures always take on a life of their own; there’s an ongoing conversation with living materials and they will tell you what they want to do.”

— Patricia Gillespie, on her approach to her artwork and process

In this talk moderated by Sabrina Raphael, Patricia Gillespie invites you into this conversation about living materials. She will discuss her large-scale hanging sculptures that she has created for Bouquets to Art over the years and explore her approach to living sculptures at every size and scale. Her sculptures push botanicals to their limit and create an element of surprise as they grow and transform into new forms over time.
