Breakthrough II
1965
Not on view
After finishing the print Breakthrough I, made on a broken lithographic stone, Rauschenberg went on a worldwide tour with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Upon his return, he came to ULAE and took up working on the broken stone. He rotated the orientation of the composition 45 degrees and added three colors. By this time, however, the stone was rapidly disintegrating, so each impression of Breakthrough II is slightly different.
