Public transportation
We offer ticket discounts for those who use public transit to visit our Museums.
Muni to Golden Gate Park
The de Young encourages the use of public transportation to access the museum. As such, Muni riders save $2 on adult museum admission. Simply present your valid Muni FastPass or transfer to the cashier once you’re on-site.
Muni is currently running with reduced service and routes. Please check your preferred route in advance. The following lines are within walking distance to the de Young.

- 7 Haight / Noriega Bus (10 minute walk to the museum)
- 28 Bus (10 minute walk to the museum)
- N Judah Muni Metro (15 minute walk to the museum)
SFMTA’s Essential Trip Card is a discount program that helps seniors and people with disabilities with transportation needs. SFMTA has advised that the Essential Trip Card can be used for trips to and from the de Young.

Golden Gate Park Shuttle
The Golden Gate Park shuttle service is provided free to park visitors. The shuttle operates every 15 minutes, 9 am – 6 pm, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. On weekdays, the shuttle operates every 20 – 25 minutes, noon – 6 pm.
Driving
Please note that John F. Kennedy Drive is closed to vehicles from Kezar Drive to Transverse Drive. There is no vehicle access to the de Young museum from the north side of the park. To cross Golden Gate Park, please use Park Presidio Boulevard or Stanyan Street.
Drivers are welcome to drop off visitors in front of the de Young using Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, accessible via Martin Luther King Jr. Drive from the south side of the park. Additionally, the Music Concourse Garage offers a 15-minute grace period for drop-off and pickup.

Free parking
There is a limited amount of street parking available on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Blue Heron Lake Drive, Fulton Street, and the numbered avenues. Be sure to check signs for time limits and street cleaning. Note that these locations may fill up by midday.
To avoid auto break-ins, please take all valuables with you and check that your vehicle’s doors and windows are locked.
Paid parking
Music Concourse Garage
Paid parking for cars and bicycles is available in the Music Concourse Garage, owned by the Music Concourse Community Partnership (MCCP) and operated by REEF Parking. Access to the garage is available at Fulton Street and 10th Avenue on the north side, and at Concourse Drive near the California Academy of Sciences from the south. The Music Concourse Garage is open seven days a week, 7 am – 7 pm, year-round. A limited number of accessible parking spots and EV charging spots are available in the Music Concourse Garage.
Music Concourse Garage hours and rates:
- Monday – Friday: $5.25 per hour
- Weekends: $6.25 per hour
- Special event / evening rate (after 5:30 pm until closing): $6.25 per hour
- Drop-off (less than 15 minutes): No charge
Please note that the garage is not owned or operated by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, so discounts with museum admission are not possible. For garage information, call 415.750.0741 or visit goldengateparking.com.
UCSF Medical Center Garage
Located at Irving Street near 3rd Avenue, this garage is about a 20 minute walk to the de Young.
$5.00 per hour, maximum fee $35.00

Biking
Bike parking is available near the museum in the locations shown in the following map. Please lock your bike securely. Bikes are parked at your own risk. FAMSF is not responsible for loss or damage.
