Event Tickets Sold Out

SAN FRANCISCO—The Bay Area’s beloved floral fundraiser, Bouquets to Art, returns this June for its 37th year with fresh summer blooms to seed new life into the de Young’s permanent collection. For one week only, more than 100 of the region’s most innovative and sought-after floral designers converge at the de Young to showcase dazzling works inspired by the museum’s paintings, sculptures, objects, and architecture. One of the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco’s most popular events, tickets to the on-site event have already sold out.

Those who can’t make it on-site still have the opportunity to see the exhibition from home with a Bouquets to Art Virtual Visit. This 360-degree tour provides an in-depth look with unobstructed views of every floral design in the galleries, filled with behind-the-scenes details and curator picks. The virtual tour is free for museum members and $10 for the general public. In addition, a separate virtual opportunity is available with internationally renowned designer Soho Sakai. A longtime Bouquets to Art exhibitor and presenter, Sakai will lead an ikebana workshop, exploring the relationship between ikebana and nature.

For the first time ever, bouquets are presented in dialogue with collection highlights in the arts of Africa and Oceania galleries. In addition, Bouquets to Art features a large-scale aerial piece to preside above Wilsey Court, plus plenty of perennial Bouquets to Art favorites, such as Frederic Edwin Church’s Rainy Season in the Tropics (1866).

Proceeds from Bouquets to Art help underwrite exhibitions, conservation projects, and education programs at the Fine Arts Museums.

Bouquets to Art is presented by the San Francisco Auxiliary of the Fine Arts Museums. Diane B. Wilsey is the Bouquets to Art Grand Patron, Lorna Meyers is the Honorary Opening Preview Chair, and Tracy Barsotti and Jennifer Forbeck are the Bouquets to Art Co-Chairs. Members-only viewing hours are available Wednesday–Thursday, June 9–10, 6–9 pm, and photography-free hours take place Thursday, June 10, 3:30–5 pm, and Friday, June 11, 9:30 am–noon.

Funds from Bouquets to Art help underwrite special exhibitions, conservation projects, and educational programs at the Legion of Honor and the de Young.

“Ikebana Reflects the Person Who Arranged It,” with Soho Sakai
Wednesday, June 9, 2021 \ Zoom webinar

Join a virtual program with well-respected international ikebana teacher Soho Sakai, who began practicing the ancient Japanese art and discipline of ikebana in 1957 in Kumamoto, Japan. As a longtime Bouquets to Art exhibitor and presenter, Sakai will discuss the relationship between ikebana, nature, and floral designs, exploring how the designer creates beauty with feelings. BTA Virtual Visit
Starting June 9, 2021 \ Self-guided online tour

Treat yourself to an in-depth look at every floral design in the galleries with a ticket to our virtual visit, filled with behind-the-scenes details, curator picks, and more! Luxury-Prize Benefit Raffle
Purchasing tickets for the benefit raffle is another way to support the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Tickets can be purchased on-site during Bouquets to Art week at the raffle desk in Wilsey Court. The raffle drawing will be held at the de Young on Sunday, June 13, 3 pm; winners need not be present. Raffle tickets are $20 each or $100 for six.

Visiting
Gallery capacity is limited to support social-distancing requirements. Tickets are timed for entry to allow for a safe and pleasant experience within the museum.

The Museum Store is open to visitors at the museum and online.

The de Young Museum Café is open June 8–13, 10:30 am–4:30 pm for limited indoor and outdoor dining.

Ticketing
For adults, tickets are $35 and include general admission. Special tickets are required for virtual programs and the Bouquets to Art Opening Preview. Prices are subject to change; more information is available at deyoungmuseum.org.

About the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, comprising the de Young in Golden Gate Park and the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park, are the largest public arts institution in San Francisco.

The de Young originated from the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition in Golden Gate Park and was established as the Memorial Museum in 1895. It was later renamed in honor of Michael H. de Young, who spearheaded its creation. The present copper-clad landmark building, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, opened in October 2005. It holds the institution’s significant collections of American painting, sculpture, and decorative arts from the 17th to the 21st centuries; art from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas; costume and textile arts; and international modern and contemporary art.
