SAN FRANCISCO, January 28 — Spring is arriving early in San Francisco this year with Bouquets to Art—the annual floral fundraiser of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (the “Museums”)—returning to both the de Young and Legion of Honor in early March. Beloved throughout the Bay Area, this event pairs art in the permanent collection and the architecture of the two museums with floral arrangements created by more than 120 Bay Area floral designers. Throughout the week, the dialogue between art and florals offers new and longtime visitors an inspiring museum experience. 100 floral arrangements will be on view at the de Young and 20 will be installed throughout the Legion of Honor.
Ranging from stately, minimalist designs to exuberant, romantic arrangements, the spectacular floral installations on view in the 42nd year of Bouquets to Art testify to the creativity of the Bay Area floral community. This year, the Museums welcome 16 new exhibitors to the exceptional coterie of florist participants. An Impressionist-inspired, interactive garden by Judy Leung of Found Floral will transform the Legion of Honor’s central gallery as this year’s marquee installation.
Bouquets to Art’s festive Opening Night Reception on Monday, March 2, will inaugurate the week and offer guests a sneak preview of the 100 arrangements installed at the de Young.
Given the popularity of Bouquets to Art, this year, the Museums are pleased to increase public access through special evening hours on Thursday, March 5, 6–9 pm (exclusively at the de Young).
Throughout the week, a special roster of programs will enable Bouquets to Art guests to delve deeper into the botanical world with a series of talks and demonstrations featuring artists and expert floral designers. This year’s featured speakers include Kiana Underwood, founder of globally celebrated floral design studio Tulipina; former exhibitor Gina Lett-Shrewsberry; author Teresa J. Speight; and Bay Area artist Kija Lucas. Please see the full lineup of events below.
Proceeds from Bouquets to Art raise crucial funds for exhibitions, conservation projects, and educational programs at the de Young and Legion of Honor.
Bouquets to Art is presented by the San Francisco Auxiliary of the Fine Arts Museums. The Bouquets to Art Grand Patron is Diane B. Wilsey; Bouquets to Art Co-Chairs are Sydney Chaney-Thomas and Kalla Vieaux.

Artful Opulence in Event Design
Tuesday, March 3, 2 pm \ Koret Auditorium, de Young
Join Kiana Underwood, founder of globally celebrated floral design studio Tulipina, for a visual journey into Tulipina’s world of exuberant color, form, and texture. In this presentation, Underwood explores how fine art principles of composition, contrast, and emotion inform her approach to large-scale floral installations and immersive environments. From gracing European villas to modern architectural spaces, Tulipina’s signature style redefines floral design as living art: luxurious, imaginative, and profoundly human.

Bloom Where You’re Rooted: Culture and Floral Design
Friday, March 6, 2 pm \ Koret Auditorium, de Young
Join Gina Lett-Shrewsberry, a former Bouquets to Art exhibitor from Inspirations by Gina Floral and Event Design, and Teresa J. Speight, author of Black Flora: Inspiring Profiles of Floriculture’s New Vanguard, as they discuss the African American experience in floriculture. With a shared history of making something out of nothing, these two florists will explore the magic of gardens and how to bring beauty inside the home. Using foraged clippings permitted by the nearby San Francisco Botanical Garden, pops of color from the San Francisco Flower Market, and peppered with cultural wisdom from their Southern roots, this promises to be an event to remember. Two women, two perspectives, discover the floral diversity found in the seasonal landscape that reflects how beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Tickets for Bloom Where You’re Rooted are $55 and include admission to Bouquets to Art at both museums. Seating is limited, unassigned, and first come, first served.

She has been an artist in residence at the de Young museum, Montalvo Arts Center, and Recology San Francisco.

ABOUT THE FINE ARTS MUSEUMS OF SAN FRANCISCO
Together, the de Young in Golden Gate Park and the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park make up the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the largest public arts institution in the city and one of the largest art museums in the United States.
Opened in 1895, the de Young is home to American art from the 17th century through today, textile arts and costumes, African art, Oceanic art, arts of the Americas, and international contemporary art. Opened in 1924, the Legion of Honor is home to European painting, sculpture, and decorative arts, ancient art, graphic arts, and contemporary art.
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are located on land unceded by the Ramaytush Ohlone, who are the original inhabitants of what is now the San Francisco Peninsula. The greater Bay Area is also the ancestral territory of other Ohlone peoples, as well as the Miwok, Yokuts, and Patwin. We acknowledge, recognize, and honor the Indigenous ancestors, elders, and descendants whose nations and communities have lived in the Bay Area over many generations and continue to do so today. We respect the enduring relationships that exist between Indigenous peoples and their homelands. We are committed to partnering with Indigenous communities to raise awareness of their legacy and engage with the history of the region, the impacts of genocide, and the dynamics of settler colonialism that persist today.
