Tours

We offer free public tours for our permanent collections and select special exhibitions, along with drop-in art-making. Paid private tours are also available.

Note: Public tours and art-making are free with a museum ticket. No advance reservations.

Public tours

  • Gallery Conversations

    Explore the de Young’s permanent collection through welcoming, inclusive, and engaging conversations. Join us for a 50-minute conversation on four to six artworks.

    Tours meet in Wilsey Court, Tuesday through Sunday, noon and 2 pm.

  • Exhibition tours

    Take a guided tour of select special exhibitions.

    Tours meet at the exhibition entrance every Tuesday through Sunday. Tours are about one hour.

  • Porcelain Conversations

    Meet in the Legion of Honor’s Bowles Porcelain Gallery every Saturday, Sunday, and Free Tuesday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm for a guided conversation.

  • Family Tour

    Have fun and connect with your family as educators lead a tour across three artworks. Tours meet in Wilsey Court on select Saturdays at 10:30 am.

Art-making

  • Sketching in the Galleries

    Join us at the de Young for Sketching in the Galleries on select Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm. This free drop-in activity is open to all skill levels.

    Join us at the de Young for a free drop-in art project on select Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm. Artists of all ages are welcome.
