You’re invited to join Page Views, a new book club at the de Young and Legion of Honor! Our goal is to deepen engagement with works on view by pairing special exhibitions with a companion text. Together, we’ll celebrate art history, literature, and the thrill of lively discussion among friends new and old.

We hope you’ll join us in reading our first selection, The Judgment of Paris: The Revolutionary Decade That Gave The World Impressionism by Ross King (Walker & Company, 2006). In this compelling non-fiction work, King describes the period surrounding the rise of the Impressionists in France and their larger place in modern art history. This work parallels Monet: The Early Years, the first major US exhibition devoted exclusively to the initial phase of Claude Monet’s career. The Judgment of Paris is available for purchase through the Museum Stores online. Museum members receive 10% off!
Join us on April 26 for our inaugural Page Views meetup at the Legion of Honor from 1:30–2:30 pm in the Florence Gould auditorium; you can RSVP on our Facebook page. Can’t attend in person? Enjoy the event on Facebook Live and participate remotely.
Stay in Touch! Page Views will continue to focus on special exhibitions on view at the de Young or Legion of Honor throughout the year. Sign up for our Special Events and Lectures list to receive Page Views book club updates (select "Special Events and Lectures" option on the sign up form).
