Oceanic Arts Celebration

Join us for an all-day event celebrating Oceanic arts and culture! Participate in hands-on art-making activities and enjoy performances led by Samoan cultural groups and community partners. Don’t forget to check out our afternoon film program and two special collections of Samoan heritage on view for one day only.
Schedule
10:30–11:15 am: Welcome and opening ceremony, Koret Auditorium
11 am–3 pm: Family Art Making, with Ruta Aiono and Nina Futipaono, Piazzoni Murals Room
11 am–3 pm: Siapo (tapa cloth) and ‘ie tōga (fine mats) study collection tables

11:30 am–1 pm: Performances by San Francisco Tongans Rise Up, Mixed Persuasion, and Kelera Vuiyale, accompanied by DJ Joe King, Wilsey Court
1:30–2:30 pm: Film screening of Vakaraitaka, directed by Fenton Lutunatuba, and Snack, written and directed by Lauren To’omalatai, Koret Auditorium
