Lowrider Culture Celebration

Join us for a free celebration of lowrider culture, highlighting artistry, craftsmanship, and community. This day features a lowrider exhibition on the front lawn of the de Young, film screening curated by Vero Majano, panel discussing the cultural impact and creative legacy of lowrider traditions, music by DJ Brown Angel, and family art-making activities with Cecilia Perez.

This event is part of the free public programs and educational initiatives around the special exhibition Rose B. Simpson: LEXICON

  • Noon–4 pm, Family Art Making with Cecilia Perez aka Hey Ruca, Piazzoni Murals Room

  • 1:30–3 pm, Film screenings curated by Vero Majano and discussion moderated by Ruby Ramirez and Angel Romero, Koret Auditorium

  • 1–4 pm, Music by DJ Brown Angel, Front Lawn
