Cosplay Days at the de Young are where fandom and culture meet. Come dressed as your favorite character and explore the exhibition Art of Manga in costume alongside fellow fans. With photo ops, manga merch, and epic vibes, it’s the ultimate experience for museumgoers and fans.

Ticket includes entry to ONE PIECE ONLY: How Manga Is Made and all permanent collection galleries at the de Young on the day of your visit.
Present your ticket at the gallery entrance for admission into Art of Manga.
By participating in cosplay activities at the museum, you agree to adhere to all policies set forth by the museum. Failure to comply may result in removal from the premises. General museum policies apply.

Art of Manga + cosplay policy

We aim to provide a welcoming and safe environment for all staff and visitors, including those who participate in cosplay. This policy ensures safety, respect, and enjoyment for all while preserving and considering the integrity and atmosphere of the museum and art collections.

- Cosplay costumes and props must not interact physically with the exhibitions, artwork, or display cases. Props are prohibited in galleries. Props can be checked at the CosCheck on the lower level.
- Costume elements that do not align with existing museum guidelines will need to be checked at the CosCheck area. The Museums’ are not responsible for lost or damaged items.
- Play fighting and roughhousing is not allowed in museum spaces.
- Anyone wearing a costume considered inappropriate or disruptive may be asked to adjust or remove it by museum staff.
- Costumes must be safe to wear in the museum and meet the following guidelines:
- No sharp objects or weapons that could pose a risk to others.
- No live flame, smoke, or pyrotechnics.
- No recreational wheels (e.g., roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards).
- Props should be lightweight and nonthreatening in appearance.
- No oversize costumes or accessories that block pathways, doorways, or exits.
- Visitors in cosplay are encouraged to take photos in designated areas.
- Please respect the privacy of others; ask for permission before taking photos of other visitors or staff. Cosplay is not consent.
- Some exhibitions or art may have photography restrictions. Please follow posted signage.
- Please cooperate with visitor experience staff, security staff, and volunteers who may need to direct or assist you. They are here to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the museum.
- Any actions that hinder a staff member’s ability to do their job will be addressed immediately and in the appropriate manner.
