Not on view
Shortly after 1500 Dürer began work on a series of woodcuts illustrating the life of the Virgin, completing a set of nineteen for publication accompanied by this title page in 1511. With a Latin text by clergyman Benedictus Chelidonius (ca. 1460–1521), Dürer’s Life of the Virgin was published in a single volume with the second edition of his Apocalypse of 1498, as well as a set of woodcuts illustrating the Passion of Christ.
