Kathan Brown, founder of Crown Point Press, remembers the day Colescott arrived in the studio: "We were surprised when he appeared the first day of work with a huge eight-panel painting on paper that he wanted to use as the basis for what was to be his first experience with etching." Colescott's attitude reflects the optimism contemporary artists bring to presses that have a reputation for achieving the impossible.
