Based in Paris, where he taught perspective in the French Royal Academy, Abraham Bosse made more than 1,500 etchings representing bourgeois life under Louis XIII. The son of a master tailor, Bosse excelled in portraying details of costume in figurative prints such as these that document contemporary fashions among the nobility.
