The de Young App for Apple Watch
The de Young app is now available for Apple Watch. The app, described by CNN Money as an “invisible tour guide,” offers fascinating insights by the museum’s curators and an easily-navigable map to help you see more of the collections. Your Apple Watch will allow you to effortlessly receive notifications as you approach selected artworks on guided tours that cover diverse subjects including American paintings dating from as early as 1670 and sculptures and murals from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas.  Read more.
The Legion of Honor App by Guidekick
Get the most from your visit with the Legion of Honor mobile app, offering fascinating insights from the museum’s curators and an easily navigated map to help you see more of the collections. The 3-D interactive map guides you by pinpointing your exact location and offering clear direction on where to go next. The app also offers the locations of key amenities, including museum stores, restrooms, elevators, the café, and more.  Read more.

Beam device
Patrons with disabilities that prevent them from visiting the de Young in person can now visit the museum remotely with the use of a computer with a camera and a Wi-Fi connection. The new Beam Tour program uses an ambulatory device known as Beam and allows for an independent and interactive experience. The device’s sensitive lenses allow the offsite visitor to see the art in high resolution, while its microphone, screen, and speakers enable interaction in real time with guides or friends in the museum.  Read more.
Voices:FAMSF
In spring 2015, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco will unveil Voices: FAMSF, a unique location-sensitive and customizable app. This interpretive tool allows users to co-create content and engage in conversations about art and will be available free of charge at online app stores. Voices: FAMSF delivers an immersive soundscape that weaves a musical soundtrack with multiple voices offering responses to 21 outdoor sculptures and architectural details at both the de Young and the Legion of Honor.   Read more.
