The works on paper department of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts, has offices and a print study room located at the Legion of Honor. The collection, one of the largest in the United States, includes more than 70,000 prints, drawings, photographs, and illustrated books. The collection spans six centuries and includes works by artists as diverse as Dürer, Gauguin, Rembrandt, Kandinsky, and O'Keeffe, as well as Japanese prints and Indian miniatures. Documentation of this extensive collection has been computerized and can be searched through this website. Study facilities at the Legion of Honor are accessible by appointment, depending on staff availability.
