The Legion of Honor hosts a series of free public programs inspired by Artistic Luxury: Fabergé, Tiffany, Lalique. The series, Luxe at the Legion, will take place on select weekend days from February through May: February 8, February 28, March 14, March 28, April 11, May 10, and May 30. All ages are invited to the Legion to indulge in this luxurious program of music, films, lectures, and art and to relive la belle epoque for a day.

Hands-on Art-making for Everyone! Create your own headdress, tiara, and crowns and transform yourself into a diva.

Film Projection: Moulin Rouge! (2001, 127 min.). Baz Luhrmann’s film is a dazzling and colorful depiction of bohemian Paris. Spectacular images of life at the Moulin Rouge cabaret and the film’s diva performer, Satine, will be projected onto the gallery walls.

Docent Lecture: “Sumptuous, Magnificent Opulent: The Art of Fabergé, Tiffany, and Lalique”

Lecture: “Divas in the Movies,” by Jan Wahl. KRON-4’s film critic, Jan Wahl, has been called “San Francisco’s sharp-witted solo answer to Ebert and Roeper.” Sporting a different chapeau each week, she critiques recent movie releases, reviews new videos, conducts celebrity interviews, and offers interesting background on show business. Artist Demonstrations. Jewelry designer Amy Faust demonstrates her ceramic cutting and grinding techniques, creating specific shapes and setting ceramic or glass into her unique jewelry designs.

Programs are free after museum admission. Museum admission is always free to members; regular admission fees apply for non-members. A $10 surcharge applies for non-members to visit the special exhibition.
