Public ProgramsDocent-Led Tours Private docent-led tours of the permanent collection and special exhibitions are offered to groups of 10 or more. Docent-led tours must be arranged four weeks in advance. Tours are usually 45 minutes long. Call 415.750.2636 or e-mail groupsales@famsf.org to make arrangements.

Public Lectures The Docent Council sponsors public lectures given by scholars, faculty, and curators. These lectures are offered as a part of a continuing education program for FAM docents and are open to the public. Slide Lectures by Docents Slide lectures focus on special exhibitions or permanent collections and are given regularly in the Museums. Lectures are free after museum admission. Community Speakers' Program Private slide lectures in the community can be arranged. A variety of topics are available, highlighting the Museums' permanent collection or special exhibitions. Sketching in the Galleries Sketching with pencil on a 9" x 12" or smaller hand-held pad is allowed without special permission during regular museum hours.
Special permission must be obtained if using easels and/or large pads. Permission to sketch can be granted only for objects belonging to the Fine Arts Museums. Call 415.750.3528 for more information.
