Welcome to My Gallery! Build your own virtual exhibitions from over 82,000 digitized works of art from the collections of the de Young and the Legion of Honor. My Gallery allows you to become your own virtual curator! Overview With My Gallery, registered users can search the FAMSF ImageBase, choose works of art, and build an unlimited number online galleries. Galleries may be either shared with the public or kept private.
Galleries can be re-accessed at any time and can be edited and changed.
My Gallery thumbails link to the full artwork record in the FAMSF ImageBase, which contains a hi-res zoomable version on the image. Creating and Managing an Account My Gallery galleries can be browsed by all Web site visitors. To build your own online exhibitions you must have an active My Gallery account. To create an account click the "Create Account" link and fill out all required fields on the Create Account page. A valid e-mail address is required. Once you're created an account you're free to login and get to work.
In the event that your password is lost or forgotten, click on the "forgot your password?" link in the login screen and your password will be e-mailed to you automatically.
To access and change your account information, such as e-mail address and password, click the Account button on any gallery management screen.
Privacy: The Fine Arts Museums take your privacy seriously. All information collected is for internal administration purposes only and will never be shared with any other organization, company, institution, or individual. Creating a Gallery After logging in, you will be taken to your My Gallery start page which will display a list the galleries you've created, if any. Search for works of art using the Advanced ImageBase Search tool at the bottom of the page. For more information on searching the ImageBase check the ImageBase help page.
To add works of art to your gallery click the "add to gallery" check box next to the thumbnail of the desired image. When you're done adding images from the search results page click the "Add selected art to gallery" button at the bottom of the page. The search results page will reload and your selected works will appear in a row at the bottom of the page, along with a set of gallery management tools. - Each thumbnail has associated left and right arrow buttons and an "x" button. The arrows change the order the art in your gallery. The "x" deletes the work from your gallery.
- The Switch Gallery pulldown menu allows you to add art to another gallery.
- NEW creates a new empty gallery to fill with art.
- GALLERIES returns you to your My Gallery start page, and LOGOUT exits you from My Gallery.
- MANAGE takes you to the main gallery management page.
Navigate to the next search page and add more art. Make sure you click the "Add selected art to gallery" button on each page or selected art will not be added to your gallery.
To start a new search, click the Search link in the sidebar and add art as before. Art will be added automatically to the last gallery you worked on.
New galleries will be given the name "Untitled Gallery" until a title is added in the Manage Gallery interface.Managing Your Galleries The Manage Gallery interface allows you to edit and add content to your My Gallery exhibitions. Access the Manage Gallery page by clicking on the MANAGE button in the bottom frame of the Search Results page or on the gallery title in your My Gallery start page.
Give your gallery a title by typing it in the Gallery text box. The radio buttons below allow you to make your gallery public or private. Private galleries are viewable only by the owner when logged in to My Gallery, and are useful for works-in-progress or research. Choose a category for your gallery from the categories pulldown menu.
Add an introduction to your exhibition in the main text field at the top of the page. This will display on the top of your gallery paged when viewed online.
Each work of art can be re-ordered or deleted as required. The text field next to each work allows you to input additional commentary.
When you're finished editing your gallery, click the Update Gallery button at the top of the page or changes will be lost. You can delete an unwanted gallery by checking the "Delete entire gallery" check box and then clicking the "Update Gallery" button. Deleted galleries cannot be recovered, so use this feature with care!
To add art to the gallery, click the Search button in the left sidebar and add works as needed.
