	Search Suggestions Start with simple one or two word searches. Subjects searches (garden, bicycle, children, landscape) will often return much better results than the names of movements (abstract expressionism, dadaism). Finally, if at first you don't succeed - try, try again. If "gardening" doesn't return much, try "gardens," or "garden," or "gardener." Or use the wildcard and try "gard@."

We are showing most of the information we have about these works: artist, title, date and medium. The ImageBase does not contain a wealth of art-historical information, terminology and/or analysis. What it does contain are tens of thousands of images indexed by descriptive keywords.

Performing an ImageBase Search

• Locate The ImageBase search bar at the top of any screen.


• Enter descriptive keywords into the "Keywords" field.


• Separate words by spaces.


• Multiple words are searched using an "and" operation.


• Click "go" to search.

Technical Help
The ImageBase uses the Flash-based Zoomify technology to serve high-resolution images. Zoomify requires the Flash Player 6 or higher.
