On Friday nights the entire museum is open until 8:45 p.m. Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, and lectures. The cafe is open with a special Friday Nights dinner menu, and a no-host cocktail bar is serving drinks. There are art-making activities for everyone. All Friday Night programming is FREE unless otherwise noted

Wilsey Court
6:30–8:45 p.m.
Journey along the trail of the gypsies through Egypt, North Africa, Turkey, and the Balkans with a sizzling-hot music and dance performance featuring some the Bay Area's finest Middle Eastern musicians and dancers.
Members from Stellamara and dancers Miriam Peretz and Hannah Romanowsky present live music and dance from the Middle East, North Africa, and the Roma "Gypsy" trail. Special guest appearance by Wan-Chao Dance. Hands-on art-making for everyone, with “art diva” Kim Erickson. Use “gold” foiling tomake a decorative plaque just like the ones found in Tutankhamun’s tomb.
Koret Auditorium
7:00 p.m.
Film Screening: Citadel. (2006, 93 min.) The Citadel is one of Cairo’s most popular tourist attractions. A monument of medieval architecture, it was built as a royal residence and to protect the city from the Crusaders.
Docent Tours
6:00–7:00 p.m. A docent will be in the African galleries to share information and answer questions about the permanent collection.
7:00 p.m. Docent tour: Art and Power in the Central African Savanna. Meet your docent at the entrance to the exhibition, in the Textiles Galleries.
Fee Information
Programs are free. Museum admission is always free to members; regular admission fees apply for non-members to visit the galleries.
