The cafe is open with a special Friday Nights dinner menu, and a no-host cocktail bar is serving drinks. There are art-making activities for everyone.

The Hamon Tower and Observation Level will be closed from 4 p.m. onward this evening.

Wilsey Court
6:00–7:00 p.m.

San Francisco DJ Kristen Rice, a.k.a. “the Operator.” Rice is a pioneer female DJ who began spinning music in Texas in the mid-1980s, introducing trailblazing sounds at house parties and nightclubs. After moving to San Francisco, in the 1990s Rice started playing under the moniker “the Operator” throughout the seminal Mission club scene and collaborated with Mark Pistel’s Electronic Dub Collective. Rice brings her extensive knowledge of the classic 1980s play list to tonight’s celebration.

7:00 p.m.
Spoken-word performance by Jello Biafra.
Biafra rose from the American hardcore punk music scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s as founder of the Dead Kennedys and the Alternative Tentacles record label. He gained national fame when he ran for mayor of San Francisco in 1979. He has since become known for his searing, politically astute spoken-word performances.

7:30–8:30 p.m.
Live music by Penelope Houston
. Genre-crossing vocalist and songwriter Houston is the former lead singer of the legendary Bay Area punk band the Avengers, a short-lived but nonetheless influential band which appeared with the Sex Pistols at its final performance, at Winterland. In the 1990s, she re-emerged to find herself front-and-center in the burgeoning world of neo-folk. Houston currently blends her influences of punk, folk, rock, blues, and Americana.

San Francisco urban fairy and drag phenomenon" Fauxnique will be joining in the celebration.
