SAN FRANCISCO (July 6, 2016)—The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are pleased to announce the appointment of Claudia Schmuckli as Curator-in-Charge, Contemporary Art and Programming. Ms. Schmuckli joins the Fine Arts Museums from the Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston, where she is Director and Chief Curator.

SAN FRANCISCO (October 29, 2015) – The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are pleased to unveil the official de Young Museum app. The de Young collaborated with Guidekick, a local start-up that offers a mobile application platform focused on visitor experiences to create an app that takes advantage of Apple’s indoor positioning technology to improve visitor experience. The de Young is the first museum to take advantage of this new technology.

SAN FRANCISCO (August 16, 2013) – The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are pleased to announce a generous bequest of three paintings from the estate of Diana Dollar Knowles: Sunflowers along the Seine (ca. 1885–1886) by Gustave Caillebotte, and Ruins with Prophet and Ruins with Sibyl (both 1731) by Giovanni Paolo Panini. These additions represent the first examples of each artist’s work to enter the collections of the Fine Arts Museums.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco present David Hockney: A Bigger Exhibition, on view at the de Young Museum from October 26, 2013 through January 20, 2014. Assembled by Hockney exclusively for the de Young, this exhibition marks the return to California of the most influential and best-known British artist of his generation. More than 300 works will be shown in 18,000 square feet of gallery space, making this the largest exhibition in the history of the museum.
